NFL - Week 17 Predictions

Ringer's Record
Last Week ATS: 7-9
Last Week SU: 10-6

Season ATS: 115-125
Season SU: 150-90

It all comes down to this. There are plenty of playoff positions up for grabs, mostly in the NFC. There are two winner take all games featuring bitter rivals. Philadelphia heads to Dallas where the winner will take the NFC East crown. In the North, Chicago hosts Green Bay for the division title. The South and West divisions are also undecided, as is the final Wild Card spot. Five of six playoff spots have been decided in the AFC, but seeding is still up in the air. Thee are four teams (Miami, Baltimore, San Diego, and Pittsburgh) vying for the final Wild Card. I have not been to stellar ATS this season. Let's see if I can finish the regular season with a bang. Here is how I expect Week 17 to unfold.

NCAA Football - Bowl Predictions

It's the most wonderful time of the year. And that means football every day for the next two weeks. The bowl season gets started tomorrow with four games. While only one team can walk away national champion (Florida State or Auburn), 35 teams can walk away a bowl champion and kick start their offseason. I finished 133-135 ATS during the regular season which is the equivalent of 6-6 team sneaking into a bowl. Consider my regular season picks to be on the same level as Syracuse's play on the field. Season ATS: 108-116
Season SU: 140-84

The regular season is approaching its conclusion. There are still plenty of questions to be answered. We could potentially know more by the end of this week. The game that could allow some dominos to fall is Chicago at Philadelphia. Both teams hold a lead in their respective divisions and need this game badly, or maybe not at all depending on what happens with the teams trailing them. OK so maybe things won't become clearer, but nonetheless we are in for an exciting finish to the regular season. Here is how I expect Week 16 to unfold.

Division races are heating up in the NFL, particularly in the NFC. You can all but assure that Denver, New England, Cincinnati, and Indianapolis will eventually wrap up the AFC divisions. The NFC is a different story. Seattle seems to have the NFC West in hand, but the rest are up for grabs. Philadelphia and Dallas are battling in the East with a looming Week 17 matchup on the horizon. Detroit, Chicago, and Green Bay are in a three team race in the North. And New Orleans disposed of Carolina last week to take a game lead in the South, but the two still meet again. This week could help clear the picture up some. Here is how I expect Week 15 to unfold.

NCAA Football Bowl Projections

12/8/13

In just a few short hours everyone will know where their favorite team is headed for bowl season. Ohio State blew their chance to play for a national title and opened the door Auburn to get in and play Florida State in the final BCS National Championship Game. Michigan State, Stanford, Baylor, and UCF all locked up bids in a BCS bowl by winning their conference championship. Alabama and Ohio State will surely get invites to a BCS bowl. This leaves two spots open. Clemson will most likely fill in for Florida State in the Orange Bowl, meaning the final spot will probably come down to who the Sugar Bowl sees as more appealing, Oregon or Oklahoma. Here is one final look at where everyone could be bowling this season. (Rankings based on Ringer Poll)

December has arrived. It's time for teams with championship aspirations to make their run. We can potentially crown three division champions this weekend. Seattle, New England, and Indianapolis can all claim their respective divisions by the time Week 14 is said and done. This past weekend could have possibly been the greatest Saturday in the history of college football. Arguably the two best rivalries in the sport, both played all-time great games. It started with The Ohio State University beating Michigan in The Big House. An undermanned Michigan squad took an early lead and looked primed for an upset. The Buckeyes battled back and held a 14-point 4th quarter lead. Michigan answered by scoring two late TDs and deciding to try to win the game in regulation with a 2-point conversion attempt. Ohio State picked it off and the game of the year was settled. But then the Iron Bowl trumped it. I don't need to tell you what happened because by now you've seen the 109-yard missed FG return for a TD. This was the greatest finish I have ever seen. That leaves plenty of debate over who should play for the BCS National Championship Game. It will all be decided once and for all Sunday night. Here is how I expect Championship Week to unfold. Thanksgiving week had arrived which means the home stretch of the NFL season is upon us. It has been a strange season thus far. If the playoffs were to begin today, the AFC would actually have a team below .500 claim the second wild card. That would even allow me to get in the mix with my 47% winning percentage ATS this season. Now it's time for me to make a late push. Here is how I expect Week 13 to play out.

It seems like there is one team that falls by the wayside week by week and has their national championship hopes dashed. This past week it was Baylor. This effectively made it a 5-team race to the BCS National Championship Game. Alabama and Florida State remain in poll position, but the Tide travels to #5 Auburn for one of the most anticipated Iron Bowls ever this week. this gives Auburn a chance to play their way up the rankings. Ohio State is a solid #3, but need help to move up. Missouri is the other team keeping hope alive, with the chance to play A&M and the Bama/Auburn winner still.  Rivalry week is upon us. Here is how I expect Week 14 to unfold. (Rankings based on Ringer Poll)

It has been a wild season so far in the NFL. Take the AFC for instance. You have the division leaders and the Kansas City Chiefs at the top of the conference. After those teams, there are nine teams that have either four or five wins. All nine of them have reason to believe they can play into January. The NFC is just as big of a cluster. It's time for teams to make a move. Here is how I expect Week 12 to play out.

We are nearing the end of the regular season. In just a few short weeks we will know who is going to play in the final BCS National Championship Game. Alabama and Florida State remain in poll position and both teams have virtual byes this weekend. Alabama hosts Chattanooga and the Seminoles host Idaho. Ohio State and Baylor are the teams vying for position to take over should one of those teams falter over the next couple weeks. The Buckeyes get a visit from Indiana, and Baylor has their toughest game to date as they travel to Stillwater to face the #11 Cowboys of Oklahoma State. The cards will begin falling into place. It seems like there is one team that falls by the wayside week by week and has their national championship hopes. This past week it was Stanford. A week after their big win over Oregon, the Cardinal fell to USC, ending their chances to sneak into the BCS title game. The game of the year so far in the NFL will go down on Sunday night. It is not every year that you can get this deep into the season and have an undefeated team play a 1-loss team. But that is exactly what we have when Denver (8-1) hosts Kansas City (9-0). There are other premier matchups on the slate as San Francisco (6-3) heads to New Orleans (7-2), and Carolina (6-3) hosts New England (7-2).

This week lacks the big time games of last week, but there are games that will effect the BCS bids in major conferences. In the ACC, Florida State is going to need an opponent in the championship game. That team could very well be the winner of this weekend's Miami-Duke game. You read that right. Duke controls its own destiny to get to the ACC Championship. In the Big 12, Oklahoma State and Texas will battle to keep their BCS hopes alive. Baylor has clearly been the class of the Big 12, but both of these teams can still play their way into the Fiesta Bowl. And Ohio State will need to play someone in the Big 10 Championship. The winner of the Michigan State-Nebraska game will have a leg up on being that team. Here is how I expect Week 12 to play out. (Rankings based on Ringer Poll)

The Duke Blue Devils are my pick to cut down the nets in April. The recent trend has been that guard play wins game in March and April. Duke is loaded at guard. Quinn Cook and Rasheed Sulaimon return, and they are joined by freshmen sensation Jabari Parker. The Dukies also have Andre Dawkins and Tyler Thornton, giving them five guards that can play at a high level. I have them beating Ohio State in the finals. The Buckeyes have had deep tourney runs in each of the last two seasons. Aaron Craft returns for one last go at a national title. He will fall just short. When it is all said and done, I like Coack K to further his legacy and for the Duke Blue Devils to have one shining moment.

2013-2014 NCAA Basketball Preview

The college hoops season got tipped off over the weekend. It will go into high force tomorrow as the annual Tip Off Marathon takes place. A full day of nonstop action will get capped off by the Champions Classic in Chicago. Two of the highest profile games of the entire season will get the season started right. In the first game #1 Kentucky tries to prove just how loaded their freshmen class is against #2 Michigan State. Following that, we get a look at two of the most highly touted freshmen in years go head to head as Andrew Wiggins and Kansas battle Jabari Parker and Duke.

NCAA Football Bowl Projections

This past weekend will most likely be one of the defining weeks in the college football season. Alabama continued its dominance as they beat LSU for the third consecutive time. Stanford ended Oregon's national championship dreams for the second season in a row, and proclaimed themselves as serious title contenders. And Baylor kept their name in the hunt with a route of Oklahoma. Alabama, Florida State, Ohio State, and Baylor are the only AQ schools that are still undefeated. It is likely that two of these teams end up playing for the national title in Pasadena. But then again, a lot can still happen. The Ringer Poll is what we use here. Every team in the NFL has completed at least half of their games. Five of the eight divisions are separated by less than 2 games. Detroit and Chicago look to stake claim to the NFC North lead. San Francisco and Carolina square off as two of the hottest teams in the league. This week is huge in terms of the national championship picture. We have three matchups of highly ranked teams, with major title implications. It all gets started Thursday night when #13 Oklahoma gives #5 Baylor their first test of the year. But that's not even the headliner Thursday night. In a new found rivalry, #2 Oregon travels to #6 Stanford. Those games ae just the appetizer though. Saturday night, college football's best rivalry in recent years is renewed when #1 Alabama hosts #8 LSU. There are other games on the schedule, but none that matter all that much when you look at those three games. Here is how I expect Week 11 to play out. (Rankings based on Ringer Poll)

NFL - Week 9 Predictions

Ringer's Record
Last Week ATS: 7-6
Last Week SU: 10-3

Season ATS: 57-63
Season SU: 77-43

We are now headed for the home stretch of the NFL season. November has arrived. That means inclement weather and divisional matchups will be all over. This is when we will start to see who's for real and who's going to fade away. If the season were to end today, I would have correctly picked half of the playoff teams. That's pretty typical of an NFL season, so nothing has surprised us too much so far. It's time for me to prove my picks are for real. I am six under to this point, and need to make a statement this week. Here is how I expect Week 9 to unfold.

W are now down to the Elite 8 of undefeateds in college football. Missouri and Texas Tech fell from the ranks of the unbeaten last week. Leaving Alabama, Oregon, Florida State, Ohio State, Baylor, Miami, Fresno State, and Northern Illinois as the only teams left without a loss. We are guaranteed to be down at least one more this week as Florida State plays in their second Top 10 battle in three weeks, as they host bitter rival Miami. While I didn't go undefeated with my picks last week, I do finally have a winning record against the spread on the year. Here is how I expect Week 10 to play out. (Rankings based on Ringer Poll)

2013-2014 NBA Predictions

NBA Hoops are back! The season tips off tomorrow night with my picks to win each conference both in action. In a highly anticipated matchup LeBron and the Heat take on the Bulls in Derrick Rose's return to the court. Out west it's the battle of LA, and the Lakers aren't the team to beat. The NBA season is a grind that won't conclude until June, but when it's all said and done I see LeBron furthering his legacy with a 3rd consecutive title. Then, let another summer of LeBron begin.
